The paperwork is finished and submitted to the bishop. The waiting game has begun!

Bryce completed his mission papers last night. I was surprised on how easy the paperwork was to complete and submit. It is all done electronically. Once Bryce is interviewed by the stake president, his papers will then be submitted to Salt Lake. After Bryce's mission papers are received, the bishop will be able to track when his mission call was issued and when it was mailed. Modern technology...what a blessing!

I can't say enough about how proud I am of Bryce and his decision to serve a mission. Life at our crazy little house will certainly not be the same with out him! But we know that where ever he goes, he will make a definite impact.

Love you pal!

p.s. Anyone interested in purchasing a super awesome van! Things come up and others get pushed aside....updating my blog is one of those things that has been pushed aside. Being a single mom with three teenagers, sometimes I don't know if I am coming or going!

I thought that I would share snippets of our family Christmas letter that we mail out every year. This way it will give everyone an update on each of us. Here it goes:

Bryce is now 18 and he enjoyed his first quarter at Weber State. He was a member of the first graduating class from Syracuse High School. He is still an avid sports fan - especially Syracuse Titan Football, BYU sports, and the Utah Jazz. Bryce is currently working with his uncle doing demolition work and working at the Syracuse Theatre to save money for his mission.

Jacob turned 16 in December and just this past week, he obtained his "official" drivers license. He and I thought we did pretty good only having to wait one hour and 30 minutes at the DMV. He did an awesome job by missing zero on the actual driving test. Jacob is a member of the Syracuse High Football team, where he played on the sophomore team. Most of Jake's year included weightlifting, football camps, and many, many football practices. Since starting football, we have figured that Jake has grown at least a foot and gained about 50 pounds!

Mariah also had a birthday (her 13th) in December! She is attending Syracuse Junior High and loves life as a 7th grader! She is a member of the Spirit Club with hopes of becoming a cheer-leader. She is such a social butterfly and loves to do many, many activities with her friends. She loves her new gymnastic class and is close to getting her "tuck" all by herself.

As you can tell, there is never a dull moment at our house! I've basically decided my job is just to maintain some sort of sanity amid the chaos of life with three teenagers, two of which drive! I am still working full-time at Ed Kenley Ford, teaching Sunbeams, supporting Syracuse Titan Football (two games each week during the season) and just enjoying life!

Family Pictures - 2009

<img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center;

I have known for a while that Mariah would need to have braces. And just recently we have been given the green light from the dentist that it was time to begin. We went last Tuesday to Coleman Orthodontics for a consultation and she got four spacers put in at that time.

She has been so, so excited to get her braces on. Yesterday was the big day. I am surprised that she let me take pictures. The boys, Bryce and Jacob, never would let me. So, we have pictures from before, during, and after (although they show up backwards in this post!). She was very brave and patient throughout the process. She had our really cute friend, Kelli, as her hygenist. I think that really helped Mariah to relax. Kelli explained everything that she was going to do, what instrument she was using, and just talking to Mariah.

Mariah will need to have her braces on for almost two years. It was fun to watch her decide what color of bands she would use. It became the question of the day, "What color of bands should I get?" and then she would run through different color combinations.

So for the next few years, we will see various colors in Mariah's mouth when she smiles her cute little smile!

Syracuse vs. Clearfield

With each passing game, Jake is being given the chance to play more and more. I am so glad that he is given the opportunity to prove himself on the field. He has worked so hard at practice and at home. He loves the game of football! He played offense as a wide receiver when the Titans played Clearfield. The funny thing about this is that he has never practiced with the defensive line! He usually practices with the wide receivers and cornerbacks.

The game wasn't going so well, so Coach Anderson (a friend of Bryce's) came up to Jake and said "BB, go and play like your brother." BB was Bryce's nickname when he played for the Titans. It was fun to see Jake get a chance to play. He played on the line next to his cousin, Tyler.

Let's hope the next game has a better outcome! Each of the kids set off this morning on new adventures!! Bryce attended his first day of college, Jacob - his first day of high school, and Mariah - her first day of junior high! It is hard to believe that the kids have grown that much! I can remember each of them as tiny, tiny babies. This is such a fun and busy time in all their lives and I am so proud of each one of them!

Now once I get home from work, it will be a mad dash to the store to get all the school supplies that are always needed: binders, colored pencils, etc. I have been trying to pick up a few things here and there, so our visit to the store should be fairly painless. Which is good, because I have a wonderful summer cold and really don't want to fight the crowds.

As always, Bryce and Jacob really didn't want their pictures taken. But I got them to stand for a few pictures anyway. No problems with Mariah, she loves the camera.

Good luck to you all on an awesome school year!

Blue/White Scrimmage

I love this time of year. When the mornings get a little cooler and the kids are heading back to school. To me, it means only one thing - Football! As long as I can remember, I have always liked the game of football.

Football becomes a lot more fun when your sons play the game. The last few years have been a blast with Bryce playing for the Syracuse Titans. Now Jacob is playing on the Syracuse High sophomore team. I am so excited for him.

Tonight was the Blue and White Scrimmage. Jacob was able to play both sides of the ball - offense and defense. Although there are about 60 kids on the team, Jacob seems to hold his own and gets some playing time.

Good Luck Titans!

Girls Camp - 2009

Girls Camp has come and gone! What a ton of work for such a short period of time....it seems to go by way too quick, but it is always so worth it. This was Mariah's first year of Girls Camp and I know she was more than a little nervous. Thanks to some awesome Laurels and Mia Maids, they made Mariah and the other young Beehives feel right at home.

To tell the truth, I wasn't really looking forward to camp. But I am glad that I went. It was just what I needed. The girls in the ward are so bubbly and so cute. I don't think that I have ever laughed that hard over some of the silliest things. Camp has kind of given me a new outlook towards life - instead of just sitting back and just doing what I need to do in order to get by....I need to go out there, try new things, laugh more, don't watch others having fun - just go out and do it myself!

Garden Flowers

As I was walking around my yard the other day, I noticed the bright colors of some of the flowers that I had planted. So not to forget anyone or anything, I will post things about them individually. To begin with, Mariah graduated from elementary school on June 4. That morning I was able to watch her perform in the school's Spring Fling. It seems to be a tradition that the 6th graders do a "stick dance" to "We will Rock you" by Queen. She did a really good job! That night at her graduation and she won the "President's Education Award". She is getting really excited to go to junior high. So far her summer has been all about "hanging out" with her friends. Congratulations to Mariah!

Bryce's Senior Pictures

Here is a postcard that my awesome neighbor, Erinne, helped me put together to go inside Bryce's Graduation cards. So I am going through many emotions: joy, anxious, fear, etc. Jacob learning to drive! I can't believe it. He has done very well on the times that we have gone and "cruised" the church parking lot. What a fun stage in life I am in right now. Bryce graduating high school and attending college in the fall. Jacob just entering high school and learning to drive. And Mariah leaving the world of elementary school behind and joining the ranks of teenager. But regardless of the whirlwind of activity that seems to be constantly at our house, I have truly been blessed with awesome kids who I am so proud of.

Boys 2 Men

Could I be that old to have both of my boys shaving! It is one thing that both of them are taller than me (no short jokes please - I think I've heard them all!), but to have both of them shaving that is just way too much for me to handle.

For some time now, Jacob has had a "stache" growing. We've teased and laughed, and teased some more. But when Jacob asked me about shaving, I knew it was time. Bryce, being the awesome brother that he is, taught Jake one of life's passages in a man's life - the art of shaving. Jacob wasn't too sure in the beginning but everything turned out fine. In fact, both Bryce and Jacob cut themselves shaving in the exact same place!

Mariah wanted in on the action, but Jacob wouldn't even think about it. It is one of those things that I love it when it is finished, but I hate the process of cleaning, preparation, taping, priming, and the actual painting! But I am forever grateful for my parents who helped me with this "little project".

Since the upstairs was basically painted just a few years ago, I repainted Mariah's room and let her pick her colors and the accessories to go in it. She was fun to watch as we shopped for paint, pictures, etc for her room. She definitely knew what she wanted and where it was to be put in her room.

The boys rooms definitely have a new look to them. We took down the wall borders and the dark colors and just added a tan color to the walls. We have a little bit of decorating to do, but they are just not into shopping like Mariah is. When I ask what type of things they would like, they just tell me "sports posters". So off to the internet I go, looking for their posters.

Queen For a Day

As part of the assignment in her medival unit, Mariah made a "castle" as the final step for her to become "Queen for a Day". There were different levels you could work on. The more work you did at school and at home, the higher up the social ladder you climbed. A few of the levels were serf, lord, princess, and queen/king. So when it comes to the Medival Festival that will be held later this week, Mariah will be able to participate in all activities because of her "status" as queen.

So yesterday, Mariah and I went to the store after school to buy items to make her "castle". We decided on rice crispy treats. Since I was on my lunch hour and needed to get back to work, I left Mariah to her own devices to complete this project. When I got home, she had just finished her "masterpiece." She designed, created, and decorated her castle all before I got home! Great work Mariah!

It Keeps Going and Going and Going and Going....

Bryce's car, aka "The Chick Magnet", reached a huge milestone tonight! In just a few short months, he will be a member of the first graduating class! It is hard to believe that soon he will be attending college to be a sports therapist and then leave for a mission. Bryce played football again this year and what an awesome season the Titans had! After a rough first season with a record of 0 - 10, the Titans turned it around with an overall record of 10 - 3. The Titans made it to the Semi-finals and were able to play at Rice Eccles Stadium. Go Titans! In December, Bryce was awarded his "letter" for football and he is counting down the days until he gets to wear his jacket. When not in school, playing football, or hangin' with friends, Bryce works at the local movie theater.

Jacob is in the 9th grade at Syracuse Junior High and turned 15 at the end of December. Besides growing taller than his Mom, Jacob played city football this year. He played on the Syracuse Midget Black Team as an offensive lineman and a member of the kick return team. Jacob's team, although they were the smallest in height, they made it through the first round of play-offs. Between his football schedule and Bryce's football schedule, we were living, breathing, sleeping, watching, and talking football constantly! But we had a blast supporting Bryce and Jacob in all their games! Bryce is now trying to convince Jacob to play for the high school team next year.

Mariah is currently in the 6th grade at Syracuse Elementary. She turned 12 at the end of December. She loves school and and everything about it. Mariah is still taking gymnastics and is close to getting her double back hand spring! If you are looking for a babysitter, Mariah has just started taking on a few babysitting jobs.

I am still working full-time at Ed Kenley Ford and found a new hobby this year. For my birthday, I bought me a new digital camera and took some photography classes. Between working full time, the kids schedules and just life in general, we are in constant motion! But we are healthy and happy and are loving every minute of it!

Reflections.....

From the title, one would think that I should be imparting some profound words of wisdom, but nope that is so not the case!

Ok, so it has been one week since the high school football season ended and guess what we found out: That there is life after football! In looking back it is hard to understand how we did all that we did along with two football games a week (three games - if you want to include Jacob's games). Instead of taking that extra time to relax or enjoy one another's company or just do something fun as a family, we just seem to try and cram anything and everything in that extra space of time. Silly us!

Life is just pluggin' along. The kids are busy doing their thing, while I am busy doing mine and trying to maintain some sort of stability between it all. At this time of the year, we are so grateful for everyone in our lives that help us in any sort of way. We love our family, neighbors and friends. We are so blessed to have you in our lives.

PROUD TO BE A TITAN!

Oh no! Thanks Bryce and the Syracuse Titans for keeping our Thursday afternoons and Friday nights full of fun, laughter, and football!

I am very proud of Bryce for his dedication to this team for the past two years. What an example he has set for us. It just goes to show that anything is possible it you just stick with it and work towards a goal.

With that said, the Syracuse Titans football team and their AWESOME season came to an end last Thursday at Rice Eccles Stadium. The Titans played in the Semi-finals against the Alta Hawks. After a hard fought game, the final score was 42 - 14. Hold your heads up high Titans! You have accomplished what few teams have done and you did it in only your second year.

Thanks for the memories and we can't wait till next year to do it all again with Jacob!

Semi-Finals, Baby!

Wow, I don't think words can describe the game on Friday. It was the quarterfinal match up between the Syracuse Titans and the Pleasant Grove Vikings. It was a beautiful fall afternoon to watch this game. From our seats you could see the mountains with the snow covering just the tops of them.

Back to the subject at hand: the game. I thought that Syracuse and Pleasant Grove were pretty evenly matched. The Titans were leading going in to the 4th quarter. After three quick touchdowns, Pleasant Grove was ahead 25 - 21. Syracuse on their final drive with 1.2 seconds on the clock scored the winning touchdown! The final score was 27 - 25! You could see the excitement of victory on our players faces but also the agony of defeat for those on Pleasant Grove. It was an awesome game. Everyone on both teams should be very proud.

Just a quick shout out to everyone that has come to each junior varsity and varsity game with me to cheer Bryce and his friends on. Thank you, we love and appreciate all that you do for us! But we are especially excited that we have at least one more game to listen to Grandma Foxley yell when it is quiet in the stadium, "Smoosh 'em in the ground!", or "Break their Legs!" Or our all time favorite, "Roll him on a stretcher and get 'em off the field!" Thanks for the laughs, Mom!

What a season the Titans have had. After their first season together and having a record of 0 - 10, to be playing in the semi-finals at Rice Eccles Stadium next week is an awesome feat. It just shows that if you set goals and work hard to accomplish what you set out to do, anything is possible.

So next Thursday, we will be forgetting about work and school and taking a field trip to Rice Eccles Stadium to cheer on our favorite team, the Syracuse Titans!

Halloween

It hard to believe that my kids are getting old enough that trick-or-treating doesn't appeal to them. This year Mariah was the only one who was excited about the holiday.

After trunk-or-treating at the local park, I gathered up Mariah and her cousin, MacKenzie, to go and visit the grandparents, great grandparents, and great aunts. Bryce, after a hard fought football game, went to his cousin's for a little pizza and xbox. Jacob stayed home and passed out candy.

Maybe next year, we will just have to have a Halloween party to call our own.....

PLAYOFF FEVER!!!

It is crazy to think that with all the football games that we have attended this year, this is the only photo that I remembered to take of the gang! Unbelievable!

History is in the making! The Syracuse Titan Football team have advanced through the first round of the high school football playoffs! The game was held on Friday, October 31 in the afternoon. What gorgeous weather we had to watch this game. The temperature was in the 70's and there was just a slight breeze. The Titans played a great team from Kearns. The outcome was 42 - 18. Bryce was able to play the last few minutes of the game. The lineman that Bryce faced was twice his size in height and had a good hundred/hundred fifty pounds on him. After the first few times of being pushed back, Bryce realized that he had to play low and when he played low he was able to get around the lineman and apply pressure to the running back and quarterback.

This coming Friday the Titans will play Pleasant Grove. So can you say FIELD TRIP! In map-questing the school, it is about a 90 minute drive from here. Bryce is going to be hating life. He gets car-sick so easy and with a drive that long...let's hope he does well.

Good Luck Titans!

TITAN FOOTBALL ROCKS!!!

Wow, I can't believe it has been a whole month since I was able to update our blog. Between the flu bug and the fact that our computer and internet decided to give us fits, it's been a crazy few weeks. I have to agree with a tv commercial when it says, "Life comes at you fast..."

To begin with Jacob's football team lost their playoff game to a GIGANTIC Box Elder team on an extremely cold and rainy day at the beginning of this month. But what an awesome season for them! We are so proud of Jacob and the time and effort he spent in his first year of city league football. He has been talking about trying out for the sophmore team at Syracuse High with his cousin, Tyler. I think we might just have to give him a little push!

Mariah has been busy too. With gymnastics, art projects, friends, and school work, she keeps life fun. Tonight she is out on her first night time babysitting job. My littlest one is growing up! I can't believe it.

Our world lately has been revolving completely around Syracuse Titan football! After their first season with a record of 0 - 10 and playing with no seniors, the only way to go was up. And up they went! As of last night, the Titans earned second place in Region 5 football after a tough game against Davis. Bryce and the entire football team and coaches have worked so hard on and off the field to accomplish their goals. Their overall record for the year was 8-2! Awesome job, Titans! In winning last night, the Titans have earned home field in the upcoming playoff game with Kearns at the end of the week. Good Luck Titans!

An exciting note about last night game was that Bryce was picked by the coaches and team captains to be an honorary captain for the game. I think I was much more excited about this than he was. In being an honorary captain, he helped lead the team in their stretching exercises before the game and the second half and participate in the coin toss. We made sure that we were at the game about an hour before it started to watch and support Bryce. We are so proud of Bryce and all the hard work and dedication he has put into being on the football team!

A tradition that I thought was a nice touch was that at the last home game, the senior players and their parents were recognized. As parents, we met up with our sons at the 50-yard line. Then one by one, each senior was recognized. There were three white roses for the players to present to their moms. Then as we walked to the end of the field, a photographer was standing by to capture the moment. I have to tell you that it really brought tears to my eyes!

Now the question is....when football is over, what will occupy our time?

Go, Fight, Win!

Boy, oh boy, what will I do when the football season ends? Football has consumed every facet of our lives since summer with practices, games, equipment needs, etc. What will I do with the excess time and money.....But it is a blast while it is lasting!

By the time this post reaches the airways, Mariah will be in sunny Arizona for a week long visit with her Dad. Already I keep thinking that she will walk around the corner and give me a hug or come and ask me question after question. This will be a long week for me that is for sure. Have a great time Girl!

Week 6 in football found both of my teams victorious! On Friday, the Syracuse Titans held their Homecoming Game against friends and foes, the Clearfield Falcons. After some pre-game jitters, the Titans won a hard playing and hard hitting football game 16 - 9. At one point in time, the announcer mentioned that "Bryce Bennett, #57, make the sack of the Clearfield quarterback!" None of us, Mom and Dad, Sheri, Josh, and family, hadn't noticed if Bryce had actually been out on the field. We just jumped up, screaming with excitement only to find out that the announcer had said the wrong number and Bryce was supporting the team from the sidelines! But we are still proud of Bryce and his accomplishments! But really how cool is it to have your name and number said at a Homecoming Game!

Jacob's team, the Syracuse Midgets - Team Black, are just awesome! They have worked so hard and have only one lose to the season. So this coming Saturday, is the first round playoffs for the city leagues! We are excited to see how the team will do! Like Bryce, we are so proud of Jacob and all his accomplishments on and off the field!

GO TITANS! GO STORM!

Football Highlights - Week 5

One can tell that fall is in the air just by sitting outside watching football games. At the Friday night varsity games, we are now needing to bring jackets and again at the Saturday morning games.

Week 4 was a little tough to swallow - both of our Syracuse teams, the Titans and the Storm, lost their hard fought football games. The Titans lost to Viewmont 13 -7 and the Storm lost to Morgan 26 - 19.

But in week 5, each team showed their strength as they both won in stunning fashion! On Friday night, the Titans spoiled Weber High's homecoming by winning 30 - 0! Bryce was able to play the last four or five plays of the game!

Then on Saturday morning, Syracuse Storm faced off against a tough Clinton team. After a sluggish first half, the Storm went on to victory winning 19 - 0! Jacob played great. Most of the time he played against an defensive lineman who was twice his size!

I know that it seems that our lives totally revolve around football, but for the most part it does. If we are not a football game, then we are at practice. If we are not at practice, we are watching football. If we are not watching football, we are talking about football.....well, you get the picture.

Mariah is getting ready to go off track for three weeks. She is on the year - round schedule. One thing for sure, it will make the mornings go quite a bit smoother. You see, Mariah is not a morning person. She loves to take her time waking up and getting ready.

Even though life is totally crazy at the Bennett house, I am having a blast supporting each of the kids in all of their activities!

Friday Night Lights!

In week three of the high school football season, we found out that Bryce has earned a starting position on the defensive line for the Titans Junior Varsity Team! Wow, all those long hours at practice and in the gym have really paid off! Also, because of that hard work, he actually saw a little playing time (4 plays to be exact) at the varsity game on Friday night, when the Titans easily handled the Mtn. View Bruins 35-6. In my excitement to record this momentous occasion, I was shaking so bad that only 4 pictures were not blurry! Hopefully next time I will be cool as a cucumber!

Jacob's Team's, Syracuse Black, followed up the next morning (Saturday) with a win of their own. They won the game 32 -6.

Way to go, Bryce and Jake!

ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL!!!!!

With three football games in three days, it is a really good thing that I like football and for the most part understand the game. But playing football is something the boys want to do, so I'm there supporting them and yelling until I can't yell anymore!

Football Trilogy - Game 1
Bryce started this trilogy off on Thursday with a Junior Varsity game when the Titans faced off against Woods Cross. Come to find out, he played almost the whole game - playing on both the offensive and defensive lines! Way to go, Bryce we are so proud of you!!

Football Trilogy - Game 2 - Friday Night, Varsity Game - Titans vs. Woods Cross
What a great start to the Titan Football season! Two wins - one away and one at home. The Titans played a hard game and won 14 - 0.

Football Trilogy - Game 3 - Syracuse vs Farmington
What a game! First of all, the game started at 12:30 in the afternoon and the temperature was about 98 degrees! It was quite an exciting game. Both teams were pretty evenly matched. But with about 7 seconds on the clock, Jacob's team scored on a long touchdown pass. Jacob did a great job on defense and was on the kickoff team for the first time!

Our life just doesn't revolve around football, although sometimes it feels that way, Mariah keeps just as busy with gymnastics. She has conquered her back hand spring and is working hard on her double back hand spring. Keep up the hard work, Teeny!

Mariah

Not to be forgotten, Mariah wanted her own post. I have finally jumped on the band wagon and started a blog.
